Why do I love grease and sugar? Oh how the swirls of pink frosting on that little cupcake call to me as I press my nose to the window. Sigh. I guess I will always be addicted to the delicious aromas that call to me as I pass a bakery storefront. You know what I mean, that wonderful smell greets you as you stroll down the sidewalk. You quickly pick up your pace determined not be tempted, and just as you get to the entrance you swerve making a sharp turn and enter...a little piece of heaven. Oh...I'm sorry...is that drool running down my chin. Excuse me while I wipe that off. That was a little embarrassing.
Okay, so really, I'm not half-baked as the title suggests. Maybe a little...ditzy on occasion. Thought I would clear that up.
I am a writer. Just something I decided to be one day. Well kind of. <wink> I love writing in such a way that it creates a clear picture for the reader. It's the most fun kind of writing and one of the most challenging. For many years now I have had the desire to write. I kept telling myself I didn't have the skills or the time. Sound familiar? Then one day a door opened for me. Looking back now I know I was being nudged all along the way. At the time I just didn't see it.
Maybe you have a hidden talent tucked away somewhere. It's okay, we're all a little rusty to begin with. Just dust it off...and start honing your craft. Learn all you can. You're on the computer reading this...the world is at your fingertips. The web has so much to offer people. It's a giant library at your disposal. YOU ARE NEVER TOO YOUNG OR TOO OLD TO LIVE OUT YOUR DREAM. So what are you waiting for? Get out there! You can do it! (Did I also mention I use to be a cheerleader?) Come on, move yourself. Get out of that chair of apathy. You know what? You're...going...to...be...GREAT!!!!! (smile)
I love it, Bry!! You are an excellent writer and a terrific encourager!! I often neglect to tell you how much you bless me, but (even on the days it is the bane of my existence) getting to know you is a good reason to praise God for Facebook! Love you!!
ReplyDeleteCindy....thank you so very much. I really needed to hear those words today. I have had a lot weighing on my mind lately. You are an encouragement and a blessing to me as well. I hope you know that! Thanks for all that you do!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bry, I don't know you, but I too was encouraged by your posting. I'm thinking of having my sons read it...I love the phrase "chair of apathy". I will be a follower. ~Blessings
ReplyDeleteKimau38, thank you for your kind words. I know there are a lot people out there like me who just need a little nudge in the right direction. God has been calling them to use their talents for Him...they just need to be reminded. Sweet Blessing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Bry, I think you're a brilliant writer!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much for your kind comments. I feel honored that the Lord sees fit to use me.
DeleteAmen and amen! My very first client was an "older" woman who had always been told she'd never be a writer. We totally enjoyed trashing that lie! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL...Tammy, I love that. That is so cool! I always say, never underestimate what God is doing in other people's lives. We have a tendency to write people off, God never does. That's pretty cool too! :)
DeleteYep! God has put all kinds of people in my life to encourage me, and I want to help do the same for others.
DeleteSo glad God never wrote me off! :)
Heaven Hi Bry!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are one of my inspirations. Have started writing my screenplay 'Desperadoes' an action drama about how hard it is to get out of the bondage of the biker club lifestyle. I am going through a lot of emotions as I develop it, there is a lot of reliving of painful experiences and so much death and destruction.
Wow! That is incredible, Keith! So glad you shared that. I pray that the Lord will bless your writing and that He will guide you as you seek to convey His love through your screenplay. Many Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI really loved this piece. There was so much I could relate to. I also really appreciate the encouraging words that you share here with all of us!
ReplyDeleteTerri, Thank you! God has so much for us. He had to nudge me multiple times before I recognized what He was trying to do in my life. I pray He does some incredible things in your life! Sweet Blessings!
DeleteGreat post Bry! It's exciting to be reminded that our potential is NEVER out of reach - no matter how old or young. :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about that word potential too, Colleen. God has such a purpose for each one of us. If we could only see the potential He sees in us...can you imagine what we could accomplish for His honor. Amazing. Thanks so much for your kind comments!
